Are you passionate about the outdoors? We’re looking for individual and corporate sponsors to join the growing ranks of supporters of this new event.
The Central Catskills Great Outdoor Experience Festival will reach an underserved market and promote the vast outdoor resources of the Central Catskills. We recognize the growth potential in this market and are focused on expanding ‘green’ tourism as a sustainable economic catalyst for our region.
Every season the Central Catskills offer opportunities to recreate in the outdoors with thousands of acres of ‘Forever Wild’ forested lands in the Catskill Park to hike, historic restored Fire Towers to climb, miles of pristine streams to fish, tube and canoe or kayak, scenic country roads for bicycling, award winning golf courses and many communities have outstanding tennis courts to use for free. TheNYC DEP has opened four reservoirs to recreational non-motorized boating: Pepacton, Cannonsville, Neversink and Schoharie. We are familiar with winter skiing and a growing number of cold weather sports such as ice fishing, winter hiking and camping along with snowmobile trails are seeing increased activity for outstanding winter fun. The opening of thousands of acres of NYS DEC and NYC DEP lands for permit-free or permitted access for hiking, hunting and exploring provides even more places for the public to get out and enjoy the ‘Great Outdoor Experience’.
We invite you to join us in this outstanding opportunity to reach a new market and promote your organization or club, agency or business as an outfitter, licensed guide, or destination. We will include lodging businesses, restaurants and tourism-based businesses and Main Street retail shops to give the traveler a complete experience to enjoy. So let’s shout out to this NEW market and have a great event.
In addition to becoming a vendor you may decide to be one of our Event Sponsors and help us to expand the marketing and outreach efforts to promote this NEW event.
Saturday, August 15th and Sunday, August 16th
The Catskills Great Outdoor Experience Festival is moving to the NEW Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16. We believe this new location will draw a new market for us to promote the vast outdoor resources of the Catskill region. This event, held previously in Margaretville in Delaware County, will bring each county with its substantial tourism promotion resources together to showcase the many travel opportunities that are available in our four county region. For many of us we will be meeting people who will be learning about the Catskills – its history and culture and how best to enjoy travel throughout the Catskill Park for the first time.
We are seeking vendors to set up for Saturday and Sunday but an important component of this event is to offer planned excursions, hikes, bike rides, paddles and fishing experiences that visitors will be able to sign up for and travel to throughout the Catskills. It is important to give visitors the chance to get out right away, at that moment when we have the chance to engage them in a fun recreational activity.
Every season in the Catskills visitors come to recreate. More trails are available for hiking and mountain biking and in 2012 four-reservoirs were opened for non-motorized boating. A recent study has proven that there are many economic opportunities for outdoor recreation attracting more than 1.7 million visitors to the Catskills and that is sure to increase again each year. If course, we are a four-season destination and we encourage vendors from our area winter related recreational businesses to participate as well.
We invite you to join us at the 2015 Great Outdoor Experience Festival and be part of this NEW showcase for tourism travel. Learn how you may benefit from the Catskill Interpretive Center and promote those clubs, outfitters, licensed guides, or tourism destination in your county.
Please review the Application Form provided to you with this letter. Fill it out and send it back to us with your fee. Call me if you have any questions. We hope that this region-wide event will be a benefit to all.
Thank you.
